check stator output

2004 Polaris Ranger I can not keep the battery charged. I have radio, fan, and spot lights. How can I check the charging on the stator?

get the quad running and check the voltage at the battery with a volt meter. it should be 13 or 14 volts. if its 12 or below you have a bad stator. chances are its just a bad battery

will I have to get it running and disconnect the battery then check it? With the Ranger running the battery will show 12 oe 13 volts.
