View Full Version : 400ex oil leak
I did my first oil and filter change on my '04 400EX and have a small leak from the filter. I know I need to remove the cover and check the seal to make sure it is not twisted or cracked. The question I have is, do I need to drain all the oil again before I open the cover or can I open it and check the seal without draining it.
Any help would be appreciated.

just tilt it up on side 45 degree angle, you should be fine
THANKS FOR THE HELP.
Something else I've noticed is a squeeking sound coming from the front end. It sounds like something is dry and needs to be lubed. Where, what, and how often should I do this. Obviously I'm new to the ATV game and appreciate the help.

squeeking is probably your a-arm bushings, or even ball joints. squeeking while turning the handlebars is from the bushing just below the headlight, mine does that, a bit of silicone spray and it goes away for a day of riding.
