is it a oil plug?

okay so i took my seat off and my quad was running and as i put the seat back on i slammed it down and in front of the engine like above the header on the right side there is a rubber plug that blew out and shot oil all over my radiator and fan. what is that rubber plug and why did it do it? also im gonna change the oil soon what kind of oil should i use and what kind for winter. thanks

If I am not mistaken that is your stock decompression plug that failed. I would buy an aftermarket one which is of higher quality and will not blow out again. For oil I would recommend amsoil full synthetic all year long. Mine runs very smooth and its also nice having the sponsor discount:D

where can i get one from. also why did it do it? and if i rode it like it with the old one put back in would it hurt anything? thanks

that will work and k&k is a good brand. It broke because the plastic cant take the heat and pressure that builds up in the cylinder. If you really want to save the 9 bucks it cost go ahead and reuse it but you will end up spending 9 bucks on oil when it blows again. I would say go for the aftermarket one. Just my .02.

No problem but I have one question for you. How is that inline cooler/accelerator pump working for you? I'm trying to make my bike run cooler and get better throttle response.

well with the inline, cv4 hoses, and engine ice. i put them all on at once and it seems like it took a lil longer for it to get really hot. like hot enough to burn your leg through pants and boots. but i mean in runs good. i haven't got to run it with the accelerator pump because i put it on today and as i went to go for a spin the decompression plug blew out. but i got the cover cheap off eBay from a user called pit possie the cover is a brand called outlaw

one more question. what weight do you run for oil like 10w 30 or 10w 40. and do you switch for winter time. like i know you keep running the synthetic but do you change the weight?

I would have to check but some people say for the oil in summer it should be 20w/50 but I just run the 0w/40 all year. It actually says on the bottle to run 0w/40 all year because it is a replacment for all conventional oils. Motoprimo told me to run the 0w/40 all year to because the 20w/50 is more for motorcycles/streetbikes.

No its 0w/40 its synthetic oil (i just looked at the container). Its made for new modern four-stokes. Next time you go to a place that sells amsoil look for the 0w/40 full synthetic. It has a quad right on the front.
