i was wondering if anyone could tell me what the differences are between the 04-05 exhaust and the 06-08 exhaust?? im sure its just not performance because i noticed the aftermarket companies have 2 different models for the different years. i need to know because i need to buy a muffler for my xr650r project and was going to use a trx450r silencer with my xr650r big gun header pipe. since i am going to have to cut and modify to make it work anyways im not too concerned with the differences and long as the muffler will bolt right up to the rear mount at the grab bar.

they are different because the 06-08 have a larger airbox than the 04-05 and the frames are a tad different and the head pipes have a different bend to them to accomodate the changes between the years:huh

a few change between the 2 years, but not all that well. the 06's mount at the grab bar differently and have a slightly different angle where it mounts to the motor.

ok well do you guys believe one design is superior to the other?? my frame is being built and i can have the mounts for either year used so i was wondering which was the better design and made more horse power, if there is any difference in performance.

deffinatly go for the 04-05 mounts, because if you ever break a grab bar, you wont have to screw with the exhuast and what not,
