alright guys heres the deal. tommorow morning i am hitting up the car dealership to pick up one of the two following f-150's. i am soon to be 16 and this will be my first truck. i would like to get something smaller but due to the whole racing thing a truck is necessary. BOTH TRUCKS ARE V8'S (ONES A 5.4 ONES A 4.6) and i will be paying my own gas so the 4.6 is looking good on that end. just tell me what you think.

PLEASE.... NO BASHING... TY

heres the facts.

truck number 1

2004
ford f-150 stx
2x4
v8 4.6l
4 door
cloth interior
70k miles

truck number 2

2005
ford f-150 xlt
2x4
v8 5.4l
4 door
cloth interior
80k miles

here is truck number 1.

i think that powerwise you will be sorry with the 4.6.

i got a 5.7 350 in mine and i wish it had some more balz for towing

the difference in gas mileage will be marginal because of the weight of the truck. the 4.6 will work harder to pull the heft and the 5.4 will not have to work as much...so its a push. i would seriously go with the 5.4

go with the 5.4. we just got one and in the end, the gas mileage will be nearly the same since the 5.4 doesn't have to work nearly as hard as the 4.6 does, and its got some power to it too.

I would get the 1st one. Just put some wheels and grille on it.

My dad has a 07 5.4 and hasn't had any problems with it but they are known to have spark plug problems. When you go to change them they break and you have to pull the heads to get them out.

Not a big difference in MPGs between them though.

i work for a heavy equipment shop so i am pretty mechanically inclined. i wil without a doubt keep the truck nice.

the deal with my mom was we split the price of the truck 50/50 and everything else (gas, insurance, etc.) is up to me.

within a week of having it i will have 2 10 (kickers), grill, and hopefully wheels. this is gonna be a pretty boy tuck

i forgot to mention there is a 1000 dollar differance between the two.

Definitely #2. The 4.6L is a terd. 5.4L will pull good.

Check out the Kicker CVT subs. Shallow and still hit as hard as the CVRs. You could put them under the back seats.
