so how has everyones season been going?, in a few short months it will be over :(

i have to say my catch of the season was a 19'' rainbow trout, (pretty big for PA)

other than that i can honestly say this has been my best season by far. this month alone i have caught gar, drum, trout, cat fish, wallie, sauger, all out of the same area!

so share this years stories with us,

This season was bad luck for me. I brought a Shimano Spirex 2500re for 70 bucks.:grr: Brought an Ugly Stick, broke that, lost a bunch of Repalas and other lures. Brought a Berkly Lighting Rod which my friend decided to closed my tailgate with the tip of the pole in it. The fishing wasn't so great. Last year was amazing. This year I caught no trout, but some nice bass and I caught my first cat fish last weekend.

Huge! I was fishing off the shore of a huge lake. First time I ever fished there. I was catching little small mouths for a while then I cast out and I thought I was stuck on a rock. Then BAM! My line goes out like a ****er. She was about two and a half feet to three feet long. Huge cat fish! How are you suppose to grab its mouth to get the hook out? Carefully?:chinese:

It's not the whiskers that get ya, it's their top and side fins. If you feel em, they have a barb/sharp bone in the front of them. I got caught on them twice this year and man they get ya good!

My two biggest cats this year were 15 and 13 pounds. They put up a hell of a fight.

those banjo minnows do work, I use Mann's Shadows though. Big worm hook in the side and without any weights you can skip them 20 feet across a stream and destroy bass

been my best season so far actually just got in from fishing. Been catching largemouth in the range from 1 to 5 pounds everyday. Ive got into using the soft plastics something i like more about working a worm then just putting on a killey. But i do like to put an occasional sunny or bluegill on the line and wait for a big bass to suck em down. This season has cost me alot this year bought 3 new rods all new tackle etc etc. Then once fall comes around its striper season!

honda300EXtreme
08-01-2008, 09:54 PM
yea it seems every year fishing is getting more expensive, from licenses to tackle to worms alone,

wishmasstir - are those banjo minnows worth the money and do they live up to all the hype, ive been debating on buying a set for quite some time

wishmasstir
08-01-2008, 10:30 PM
just buy the manns shadow .. it does the same thing. rig it like any plastic, hook through the tip, down the head then out the head and turn the hook into the side of the minnow and pull it back. there is a slit on the shadow for where the hook is to come out. its way cheaper, you can get a set of worm slip weights also to go deep. I've caught everything from big rainbows to gars with this setup. Banjo will do the same thing just cost more ... up to you.

ok ill look into that

No fishing for us this year, havent been able to fish locally since 2006, there was a drought that killed off most of the fish. Now, with all the flooding going on, it doesnt help any...Best catch was in 05, a 10 Lb largemouth that i have mounted in my room! Sort of impressive for a largemouth in my state. :macho

i'm sick of people b!tching about the cost of licenses in PA! jesus christ people for $20-$30 you can fish all year long! thats 365 days straight!!!!

how much does gas cost for a day of riding your atv's?

how much for a night out with the guys?

how much for a night out with your GIRL?!!

how much does it cost to enter a race?

all that's ^^^ just 1 day, not all year!

A FISHING LICENSE IS CHEAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

honda300EXtreme

fish all year, my season is over once it gets cold.
with the price of fish alone, they do not stock nearly enough to compensate for the increasing cost of the liscenses them self,
so wheres my money going?

cdrookie
08-02-2008, 10:14 AM
it's not the states fault. they present you with the opportunity to fish all year, how much you fish is up to you. divide it out and it costs $.0821 to fish for 24 hrs:eek2: it costs more than 8 cents to watch tv! where's your money going? is that a serious question?

you do know that there's fish in these rivers and streams they stock, they're not all caught. not to mention there's hundreds of dams, lakes, ponds, and reserviors that have fish in them.

where's the money that they collect for atv registration going? thats a question to ask. they bought Rock Run with that money and then they charge you to ride on it!

We had an okay catch last summer, especially for an old strip mine pond. My secret was catching sunfish and casting them back into the middle of the pond.
