When you remove the hot start on an 05 450R, do you simply remove everything and block the hole or do you need to put the "plunger" looking piece back in the hole and then plug it? Reason I ask is that I haven't been running my hot start but I left the cable attached and just zip tied it under the plastic. Now that I have removed it, it seems the quad is back firing a bit.

Thanks,
Tank

Check the 400ex section, there is a very long thread about using the 450R carb on the 400ex, I'm willing to be most of those guys dont use the hotstart still.

EDITED to fix error.

Directly from the 400EX section "No don't just plug it, you need the small plunger that goes inside there"

Well, back to the garage! Thanks man, you saved me some grief!

You must use the plunger

I took the plunger and put it back in. I then removed the black cable holder that screws in to the carb, filled it with silicon. I inserted the spring into the cable holder, let it dry. I figured I didn't want any chance that the plunger may move. Backfiring problem solved, hot start disabled and I race on Sunday.
