400EX carb install on 300ex?

Anyone ever attempted to put a 400ex carb on thier 300ex? I am pretty sure it is a bigger carb. I am getting a 450R carb for the ole 400ex, so I will have a spare carb off the 400ex. I have extra thumb throttle, and cable, think it would work?

putting a 400ex carb on a 300ex is one of the most common mods us 300 guys do.

400ex uses a 38mm carb where the 300ex uses a 36mm carb
it actually adds a fairly decent increase to power across the board and throttle response, as long as you have a free flowing exhaust and well vented air box, a cam would also be to your benfit but not needed to see gains

stock 300ex throttle and cable will work with this carb as will the 400 parts

stock boots will stretch however the intake boot can be a pain sometimes, it usally requires some heat and some muscle

When I remove my carb I remove it at the airbox w/ the boot attached. The boot is a permanent fixture and never coming back off if I can help it.. lol.
