View Full Version : EXriders/Quadshop Raffle Updated

Ben
12-05-2002, 01:53 PM
The rules and ticket prices have been updated, those who already bought tickets will have their tickets divided and apportioned as if they spent the exact same money they already sent.

EXriders, CannondaleRiders and the Quadshop are getting together for a raffle! The first prize winner gets a $500 gift certificate to the Quadshop! There will be five second place winners who will get a free Quadshop t-shirt! The drawing will be made by myself on Monday, December 23rd, at 8pm EST. I will try to get a webcam set up but probably will just post a thread with the winner's name.

Tickets are $5 each, there is no limit on how many tickets can be purchased. 5 tickets for $20.00. 12 tickets for $40.00. 20 tickets for $50.00. 40 tickets for $75.00. 75 tickets for $100.00.

Only 500 tickets will be sold. You can purchase tickets via the new site store - MasonDixonRacing.com, using either a credit card, Paypal, money order, or even a check!

Each entrant's name will be placed on an index card, one card for each ticket they buy. All the cards will be thrown in a huge hat and drawn on December 16th. If this goes well we will raffle off other prizes in the future Employees of the Quadshop, and moderators of EXriders.com and CannondaleRiders.com are not eligible to win.

Good luck!

Ben

Do - I will have to recalculate them now that I have updated the current ticket holder's number of tickets. Posted tonight or in the morning :)

12-05-2002, 05:27 PM
When you go on the store and try to by 12 tickets it wants to charge you $240.. You need to update it so you can by more than 5 at a time.

Ben
12-05-2002, 05:41 PM
When I click on the "12 Raffle Tickets" it says $40. Where are you finding $240?

yellowex01

If you want to buy less than 5 tickets, use the link "1 Raffle Ticket" located on the left side of the page under "bestsellers". You can buy 1 or 2, etc

12-05-2002, 10:28 PM
Boy is this getting confusing  But somehow also makes more sense now :D

If you have one thats not right before x-mas I think I may consider it.

Ben,

What are you going to do if you can't sell 500 tickets. Not trying to be pessimistic.

Ben
12-09-2002, 10:09 AM
It is VERY UNLIKELY I will sell 500 tickets - and I will just take the money loss if it comes to that. I thought this raffle would be a hit and committed to it, I will not back out if I lose money - but rest assurded I won't do anything like this again! :)

Just goes to show talk is cheap. Everyone said they wanted to help you out with the bills, and they even have chance to win a good prize. This would have been great if you could have done it 3 or 4 times a year.

Guys, time to look into your wallet and get off your a** and send old Benny $5. You probaly cannot find better odds, 1 in 500 to win $500. Thats 10x better than those stupid scratch off lotto tickets.

Its Christmas time, the time of giving.:D

Well, I am a little strapped for cash, if you waited until after christmas I think more people would have the extra money to contribute. If not, I will start searching the couches.

Ben
12-09-2002, 02:45 PM
I am considering moving back the date to a week after Christmas if I am still losing money - I would really like to break even, and perhaps make a few bucks that I can use to buy a photo gallery program for the site.

Ralph
12-09-2002, 02:46 PM
guys gimmie a break some people spend 6.25 on a pack of cloves.... 3000$ on an engine that wont make them ride better... 6000$ on a quad and u can fork up 5$...:huh

Doibugu2
12-09-2002, 02:46 PM
If they cannot afford $5 then you know they are never going to be able to afford it. But, you may get a better response if you move it back. I'm not in favor of that, though.

trx400ex
12-09-2002, 05:06 PM
How many tickets will you need to break even? I dont know if you have to pay the full 500$ for the certificate, but wouldnt 100 tickets equal about 500..unless alot of ppl bought group discounts....nevermind..i guess would have to sell like 150 to break even....I think you should end this one on the 16 like you said, but make another one after spring , and my advice would be alot of smaller prizes and a couple of 250$ certificates...you could sell a 500 tickets to that easy

Ben just a small problem. I went on your racing site to purchase some tickets.. Why isnt it a secured checkout? Even the http doesnt have an s after it.. I have no problem buying some tickets, but only on a secure checkout.. Any other way?

Instinctz

If his isnt secure, then use paypal.

Ben
12-10-2002, 03:32 PM
Actually it has been secured but in the last day or so the host company has been revamping the security of the store - so it will be extremely secure. Update you with details asap!

Sorry, I'm a little behind here. Guess I'm spending too much
time in "powertrain" and "for sale". Where do I go to buy tickets?
Did someone say Paypal?.

Just an idea........Maybe there could be a spot for things like
this?....events?.....I dunno???

I'm happy to buy some tickets to support the site........
just a fluke that I found out about it though.

Thanks,

At that time, losing money or not the winner will be named and will be able to order their parts ASAP from the Quadshop - I will call them with your contact information right after the drawing. :)

It is running on my host's 100% secure server but we (the host and I) and still working on getting the little lock to show up. They are mystified but either way it is 100% secure. :)

Its not secrured if the "little s" doesnt show up. The padlock means it is sending in encrypted code, and if the lock is not showing, then it is not sending it encrypted, and is not 100% secure.

You'll have to get a certificate that is secured in order for that 'lock' to show up, and your host should know how to do that unless they are really inexpereinced.

Ben
12-18-2002, 04:50 PM
Thanks for your concern - but it is 150% secure. Once you go to your cart and then checkout and enter your credit card information, the little lock does show up. It is not needed when just browsing the store - only when checking out and viewing your cart. If you do not believe me - go to the store, click on a product, add it to your cart. The little lock will then appear. :)

Ben

Ben you forgot to say after you put it into your cart to purchase :)

Ben
12-18-2002, 05:30 PM
lol - the bottom line is that the site is completely secure in every place it needs to be! :D

Ben

Instinctz
12-18-2002, 06:06 PM
I never said the site wasnte secure, I specificly said that if the lock is not showin up, its not sending in encrytped code or what eva.

I'm sure its safe to buy things, and its safe even if the 'lock' is not there, but nothing is 100% safe, but the lock is 900% safer than unlocked.. lol.

Ben
12-19-2002, 04:56 AM
THE SITE IS SECURE - THE LOCK DOES SHOW UP IN THE CHECKOUT, CART, AND PAYMENT AREA OF THE STORE. You are scaring people away with your misinformation. :o I understand that a store is not secure without the lock - but the lock IS there in the e-commerce part of the store. The lock is not needed when looking at products on the store because that is just another website, not the actual physical store that keeps the credit card information or personal information. HTTPS is used in the e-commerce part of the store. Why don't you try it before you continue knocking it down and scaring people? :)

Thanks,

Ben

Instinctz, you are something else. I think even a two year old can understand what you are saying, it isn't exactly ground breaking computer lingo you are using there. What you are telling people is that our store isn't secure because the lock isn't there. The problem with your statement is that the lock is there and everyone sees it. It is really a pretty simple concept. I realize you believe you are some computer god, and that is ok by me - but when you post something you better be able to back it up with facts - and here the facts are squarely against you. The store is secured, the lock is present in the e-commerce section of the store. It is an easy concept to grasp. I spend excellent money, and considerable amounts of time, each month to ensure that EXriders' security is top knotch - and prior to opening the site store I put into place the top of the line security measures so that everyone's information is completely safe.
