Looks similar to the hardware I had/have. Mine sets off metal detectors at airports all the time.

Here's the first rod that was put in, then taken out to put a larger one in.

I snapped my femur while riding a jet ski. Try treading water with a broken femur!

I managed to rotate the ski 90 degrees in the air so I landed sideways. It was actually on a sea doo. Not a stand up. But I landed sideways after catching HUGE air and it through me off the side. I got my leg tangled in the bars.

yea it did, where you there that night?

You guys that have had similar breaks.. how long did yours take to heal? The doctor told me 6-8 months and if my tibia (shin bone) doesnt start coming back together in about 4 months then I have to get a bone graft. You can see in the pic there is about a 1/2 inch gap in it.

It took me over a year to have the bone fused back together ... and that was after having a bone graft done , removing the original rod and installing a new one , and using an Exxogen Bone Stimulation machine. I spent 8 months in a full leg cast then a walking cast.

I hate to tell you this, but your leg will never be the same again. I've got pain 24/7 ... any prolonged standing makes my leg swell like a balloon , same as doing various types of work. Weather is going to be your number one killer ..... humidity , cold , rain , is going to affect it. I want to have my hardware removed to see if it'll make any kind of difference ... because it's becoming worse every month now.

dang! well its been a little over 2 months now for me, i was never in a cast and the im walking on it now without crutches. the doc said that could stimulate bone growth by using it and then we will see in another few months if i need a bone graft.
