Bought a KFX400 that has one of the valve cover bolt holes completely broken off on the exhaust cam cap. Looking for a good exhaust cam cap or an entire wrecked head if it comes to it....

Or any other suggestions?

Thanks!

that cap was made for that head and that head alone, the chances of you finding a cap from a different head that fits your head perfectly, as it was machined to do is beyond comprehension, sorry but thats just the way it is.
there are heads beeing offered on ebay but expect to pay at least $200. for them more likely more. you can get a new one for like 450.

Hmmm, thanks for the reply, what would you do in my situation? I'm not buying a new head for it, its not worth it to me...

Really the only main problem with it right now is that it leaks oil out of that hole and if I were to just plug it do you think it would be ok? Or do you think that the valve cover gasket would not seal correctly without that bolt?

Thanks

when you mean broken do you mean the cam clamp is broken or the bolt is broken inside the cap?

Any pictures?

Yes, the bolt that goes through the valve cover into the cam cap is what I am having trouble with. And its not the bolt, it is the cam cap that the threads are actually broken in half vertically, its a little tough to explain, I will have pics up in a couple mins...

it is fix able but it is going to take some talent, a really good welder should be able to do it

like cataway said, your easiest and cheapest solution would be to get it welded up. grind off the whole thing, have them machine a small cylinder of aluminum and drill and tap the hole. just like this:
