best xc quad?

what would be the best 450 to set up for xc on a budget?
want a 450,
want e start,

problems i have came up with so far
450er- starting sucks.weak frame around foot pegs?
yfz- batter probs, hard suspension. think only on 04 and 05?
ds - weak frames and axes
ktms- hate them, not very lasting, friends has a ktm450xc and my stock kx250f smokes it in 300ft, and ktms look like an 85 quad racer
ltr- need alot for xc, heard tranny problesm
kfx- heard its the slowerst?
polaris- well its a polaris

i work at a atv shop and my boss is going to take me to an auction so i can get one cheap? leaning towards yfz or kfx, like the reverse?

I am not going to comment on which one is better, frankly any of the quads you listed could win with the right rider.

But I do want to say, if your doing dead engine starts don't think that a kick start quad is always a bad thing.

In 04 I bought a yfz over a 450r because of the electric start. And my boy got lots of holeshots, and wins on it. Then in 07 I retired it and got a smoking deal on an 05 450r that our sponsor still had in the crate. Long story short, he still gets lots of the hole shots with the kickstart. Heck a lot of riders with the estart honda's put kickers on them just to get faster starts.

Ride all of them that you can and pick the one thats most comfortable for you.
