rappy is very tippy stock, if your gunna ride mx your gunna want to widen it and buy new shocks. the 400ex isnt as tippy but the stock fronts sucks. but 450r shocks will help that out.
the 450r is wide and the suspension is pretty good.
IMO modding a 300ex is useless. you still wont keep up with 400exs or 450rs unless ur an ungodly rider.

for the money you cant beat the 400ex if you look hard and get a little lucky you can upgrade for a few hundred bucks and it will be a great improvement over the 300. but without some engine work its the slowest of the ones your lookin at. i sold my 300 and got a 400 for 50 bucks. do miss reverse sometimes tho.

From a weight standpoint, the 300ex is not a small quad. Get the 450r if you can (much lighter) or the 400ex.

Dont get a 400ex. Seriously you will outgrow it soon after you buy it and upgrading it is useless when you could just get a 450r. I rode every one of your choices except the raptor and like the 450r best by far. Its cheaper to just buy a new 450r than to buy a 400ex and upgrade it to be as fast. Just my opinion.

raptors are horribly underperformed...660cc and piped ex will eat it up. pretty sad. the ex you can mod the bag out of and dump all sorts of money just to catch up the 450s. orr spend that 800 you would put towards modding the ex once you find the stock power boreing and buy a 450r.rediculous improvement all around.

def. go with the 450. If i had the money i would be on one for sure. I will find one cheap enough soon! Go on craigslist find someone to trade your 300ex plus cash for the 450, you could find that with no problem.

HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm going to give you some serious advice and hope you can use my experience to make a good choice.

A 300EX is a nice quad. I've spent a lot of time on one. It throws around like no other... and mods + suspension do a lot for it.

At this time, I have a 400EX... and my 2 main riding buddies also have hondas. It just so happens one has a piped 300EX and the other has a stock kick 450R... so all 3 right here... me right in the middle.

Having said that, I also had a YFZ450 I sold to a guy wanting it after spending a weekend riding with the 300EX in tight woods.

The YFZ450 would be my choice on the track out of all these, and beyond these I'd look at the LTR450 and KTM450 for track riding.

In any event, the EX quads certainly can do the tracks, but out of the gate they are at a disadvantage to the 450's period.

I'll be the first to tell you that I don't care much for the 450's off the track. I mean consider it... I sold mine and look what I have now. But on the track you can't beat'em. I just happen to ride more trail right now than track.

Bottom line is... do some used shopping and pick yourself up a nice used 450. They are everywhere... people ran to buy them only to find they didn't fit their riding type or style... and they can be had reasonable. I've seen some barely broken in for $3,000-4,000. Then sell your 300EX if you don't need it and buy some mods for it.

That's my advice unless you'd rather finance a new one.
