Hey guys, i just picked up a 1988 250r in probabbly the nicest shape i have ever seen in person, I will post better pics soon, anyways i may of not had it warmed up all the way when i was test ridding it but it seemed to lack a little bit of power to me from what i remember these bikes to be, here is what all it has on it, and it runs on 110 octane which seems a little extreem to me, what compression requires 110. i had a jetski that had 185 pounds of compression and it did fine on 93 octane.

so my question is where to i start trying to find more power? what is the best bang for my buck? and how much money are we talking.

nice bike.

race gas is usually required if your cranking over 180-190psi, so do a compression check.

you have alot of good parts already, maybe switch to a trx5 exhaust if you ride in more open conditions or a sparks mx/pt 89 race if you're into mx or more short run types of areas. the lrd is a decent pipe, not the best top end or the best low end, but good all around.

some porting will wake it up if you feel like rebuilding it.

:blah: I give you less than a season before you come back with the same question. Whatever route you go, split the cases and build the bottom end first.

:D nice machine!

i ran 210 psi on 100 octane, but that was pushing it.Hope that helps.
