a friend of mine has a 90 for his son, and wants to know if he could put the new style plastic on it without much hassle. is it possible to do this with little changes, such as the brackets and such?

YES it can be done. Its an expensive pita though. You need all the plastic, the seat, the gas tank and all the fender brackets. Also the rear posts are closer together on the newer seat so you need to modify the frame in the back. The gas tank mounts differently also. Thats all I can remember from doing it.
