what type of shocks will fit up front with stock arms?im not spending my money on elkas or works. im looking for 300ex or 400ex or something like that

Nothing other than aftermarket shocks bolt up directly for the 250ex.
The 300/400ex are slighlty longer which will raise the front end.
Everything else stock, it will handle worse. Plus you will have to spread apart the lower shock mounts or flip the shocks upside down to fit either.
Also with stock width a-arms, they will be stiffer and worsen the already abysmal ride of the stock suspension.
We used the 400ex with the DJ widening kit. At the different shock angle, they softened up the ride and handling greatly.
For mx/jumping. aftermarket arms and shocks is the way to go, IMO. Our setup works well for trails and some moderate jumps.
To remain totally stock on the suspension, changing the rear tires to 20" is the only handling improvement you can make.
I'm sure to take some grief over this, but WTF, it's true.
