View Full Version : need help with k&n filter

so i ordered a k&n air filter from motosport a while back but when i went to put it on it will not fit around the spot you connect it to. its the same size as it so there is no way for me to put it around or inside t clamp in on with??
did they give me the wrong part? or whats going on

I think you have the wrong one possibly. It should fit inside the sleeve in the airbox and also will come with the tab on the back of the filter to mount it to the stock back mount. You might have got the Mod quad one which requires an adapter between the filter and the airbox sleeve...

The 04-05 filter is much smaller than the 06 and up. You may have got the wrong filter. Send it back and get 2 Uni's.

the part number on the box is right but it is wrong on the filter. found the problem, now i gotta send it back

do like rs20 said and get 2 UNIs. They filter just as good, last just as long, and cost half as much. And with 2 you wont have to clean them as often. Course thats just my opinion.

i would but then im stuck with the special k&n filter cleaner and oil. got it from my grandparents for my birthday so i cant return it:ermm:

I'd go with the Uni's myself just because I'm not a fan of having dirt go in my engine. I gave up on K&N a long time ago for atv's. Do some searching around. That K&N filter cleaning kit is only $15, how much is a new motor?;)
