Hello everyone,

I have an 07 400ex. I like to jump and trail ride. I weight about 185 w/ gear. I'm looking at a set of 450r shocks as a much needed upgrade for the front shocks.

My question is what should I buy if my budget is around $450? If I got the 450r shocks, I would just bolt them on the bike. Or should I look at a pair of Works AT Triple Rate Steelers (no RezzY) for about $415? Need some opinions.

Thanks everyone!!

I never rode 450r shocks, but I can tell you about works shocks. I had at triple rates w/ rezzies, never even had to adjust them after initial setup. They worked great, I loved them and was thinking of going back and getting newer ones til I got a good deal on elka's. The works steelers everyone is gonna knock I'm sure but I enjoyed them and I know a lot of people are very happy with the 450r shocks too. In the end I think either one would make you happy as stock suspension sucks!

450R fronts are not that great unless you get them revalved or resprung because of the harsh ride. Works shocks will be smoother but still will bottom on big jumps. I have the 450 fronts and they work great for me cause I weigh w/ gear about 250lbs. So it takes most of the harshness out. I can bottom the 450 shocks but they won't toss me over the bars like the Works would. My advice would be to get the 450 shocks & get them revalved.

thanks. my main objective is to stop bottoming out on big jumps. I believe (from all the reviews), the 450r shocks will address this issue.

Thanks again

get the 450r stock shocks cheap as possibly and then get the dual rate 450r spring kit from GT Thunder, this should make a decent set up for under $450 bucks.
