View Full Version : need protrax info
i would like to put 4+1 rims on my laeger chassi (not narrow frame).
currently, a-arms on my protrax measure 16.5 (i don't know if it match to +2 or +3).
With 4+1 rims, i have to put 17.5 a-arms to keep the same width.
But where is the 1" in more, between frame and the shock or between the shock and the wheel ?
sorry for english mistakes, i'm french
Thanks
Etienne

I think that it would be easier if you could give us a total width of the front of your R from outside tire to outside tire. To give you an idea, my R with a stock geometry frame, +3 arms and 4+1 rims sits at about 48".
I assume that you're currently running 3+2 rims. If you're swapping to a 4+1 wheel you will be 2" narrower total in the front, therefore to keep the same width you'd have to get 1" wider arms.

I have a pro-trak +3 on a stock frame, I'm 49" w/ 4:1 rims. I think +4 a-arms will set you to wider than 50".
yes, currently i have 3+2 rims and total width is 49".
i want to pass to 4+1 rims with the same width

could you measure your arms bolt to bolt for me please ? and give me the position of the shock on your arms

This is my experience with the wheel offset/width issue.
Aftermarket rims run around 4-1.5 for ITP
Douglas 3-2 run around 3-2.25
OEM rims run 4-2
Hipers 4-1 run around 4-1
Ride height, caster adjustment will also play a role.
If you want to go from 3-2 aftermarket rims to 4-1 aftermarket rims you will only lose about 1". If you have Hipers you may lose 2"
Hope that helps.

These are the measurements I took to answer another post:
