View Full Version : Spark plug wrench size for 400ex

What size socket do I need to remove my spark plug on my 400? Im guessing its metric.. and I dont have a deep socket to fit it- im going to buy one tomorrow.

It won't come out with a regular tool, you need the stock plug tool or motion pro makes one i think.

o goodness...... i had the EXACT same problem.... mine was used and didnt come with one. we tried ALLLL kinda metric deep-well thinwall sockets.... the only way to do it is the lil tool that comes with it... i just went to the local honda shop and they gave us one that they use. but its still a pain in the butt to get it out.

no,it's 17mm..pretty sure about it ...14's too small..also i lost my tool kit long ago..the 17mm socket just need to be worked in slowly and it will work

My bad, if I gave wrong info.....thought it was a 14mm, someone should clear this up though...

its 17 or 18. I forget. I know its real tight though. I spray the outside of the socket before i put it on the plug. Because of the overhead valves, the plug is real deep in there and the socket gets stuck on the engine.

i usually greese or spray my socket before i do it too...also blow out the plug area with compressed air before you remove your plug cause it catches alot of poop dowb in the spark plug well area

It's actually an 18mm.
