hello guys,

I know this is a honda fan base site but, there is a good kfx 450r for sale at my local shop. And unlike other times i acutally have the cash to get one. Worked all summer for a famer.

Also, for an extra $1000 bucks I could get a bill balance 07' yfz 450.

So, in your guys opinion what is the best deal the 08 kfx 450r for 3609 or the bill balance for 4500?

idk man. i just like yamaha's. ride them both, and see which one you like more. dont worry about the cost, since you can afford them both. correct? and if you do decide the kfx, you can put a nice pipe or somekind of mod on it. it's up to you. it's personal preference(sp)

Stock KFX's seem pretty good, ALL the modded ones at the track are havng problems though, and there tough to start from what ive seen

But i'd still rather ride a Kawasaki then a yamaha:p

what problems would that be?

the tough to start problem has a fix to it now.

and besides the hard seat i really dont have a single complaint.

if your looking for speed go with the yfz, the kfx is geared really low which is perfect for motocross and xc but not exactly great for the weekend warrior.

Everyone I know who owns a kfx has had alot of problems .. cranks thrown through the motor .. transmissions locking up .. efi problems, and on top of all that they aren't fast ... stock or modded.
I'd go with the yfz over the kfx ANYDAY.... thats just my opinion based on what I've seen.

Anyone who has problems out of theres, is doing something wrong! and they need to stop blaming kawi. I have burnt up a set of clutches and blown a head gasket, and guess what they were my fault not kawasaki, and that is all that has been wrong with it which arent exactly problems only kawasaki's have  ...

As for "i have a friendddddd who has a sister who has a friend who has a kawasaki and he said it sucks" hahaha oh well you cant fix stupid.

as for them being slow, they arent slow dumbass's theyer geared extremely low, do a little sprocket work and theyer actualy quite a bit faster than honda, yamaha, and suzuki.

As for "modded ones having problems", ive been running a built motor from baldwin for the last 7 months and still going strong.

id go with a kawi. Everyone around me who has one hasnt had a problem yet.

for the price tag I would go with the Kawi....i personally do not like the bike, i however love the throttle responce of their EFI.

my buddy has one and he loves it except for the fact he bail off the FMX ramp at 50 and bent Everything...lol

all in all i would take the kawi over the yama just because of what you are getting for the price.

I don't see how driving them and changing the oil is doing something wrong?
A clutch .. yes .. normal wear and tear , a headgasket , yes it can happen , throwing a rod through the front of the motor .. or having the transmission lock up so bad it cracks the center cases, on a stock motor .. which I have seen happen on 3 different kfxs ..
I've never ever seen an brand new quad have problems like this... 3 times by 3 different people (theres only 4 people who raced them here) isn't a fluke.

i came off a full blown mx yfz with a race motor to a mx kfx450 with a stock motor. and im way faster on this then i was the yamaha. there piles of crap. i had nothing but problems with that. and not 1 problem with my quad. The fuel injection and all the wire can be tricky. but its got its own diagnostic system thats really easy to use. Everything els is simple. clean. well thought and put together. stock the kfx rips. Its top end is not wonderful but it makes up for it with a bigger front sprocket. Take my word for it i rode a yamaha for 3 years and it broke. prob 156 times (once a week ) 3 blown motors to in her. KFX also puts out alot of money for gnc and neatv if your a racer. kfx are getting bigger and bigger. just hard finding parts for her still

i think thre sweet bikes though, my buddys got a stock motor in his with absolutely no problems

well thats more than likely not kawasaki's fault it may just be who ever built the motor, put the parts in, etc. my mechanic pushed a bearing threw his crank case one day is that hondas fault? haha

I'd go with the KFX. They sit so much nicer than YFZs and the reverse is a plus.

07-25-2008, 09:54 PM
hey may be the first to put a 450 motor, efi, and aluminum frame together in a package that works

umm...

any built motor is at risk of having problems. how do you know this wasnt a super hi comp piston on the stock crank?

07-26-2008, 09:40 AM
cdale was just way ahead of its time They were awesome machines. Cdale went bankrupt. nothing to do with the quads them selfs.

I no about 10 people on a kfx right now. been racing them with out a problem. Actually tony pacheco switched to a kfx from a full eastcoast honda with a rage motor cause he liked mine that much.
