tons of variables depending on bike and current condition.... if you want to know, just call and get a quote, or figure out what what parts cost and just add a few hundred for labor if you are having a shop do it.

sorry, but not everyone has access to machinery that can bore an engine.

well, when i say fresh, i mean EVERYTHING.

all new valves, guides, seating, boring, piston, etc. i want my engine like new again. the previous owner put it through hell and i'm sick of it smoking because he probably did an improper break in or just didn't take care of it

No, but you don't necissarily need one either.. You could still save yourself some money and learn a ton if you do everything yourself and take the cylinder to a machine shop to be bored.

why not just do a valve job. check cylinder wall specs in relationship to piston and piston rings and rehone insert new piston and rings and call it good

I paid $800 to have a 3 angle valve job, a few valves, gaskets, new valve seals. The cylinder was fine as was the piston so it also included new rings and installing them. Also included a heavy-duty cam chain. Almost forgot about that.

I removed the front plastics and gas tank and washed it all up spotless before dropping off at the shop. They took care of everything else and I picked it up.

The job lasted 2 years so I can see why you want to do the whole thing right the first time. The original lasted 4 years before it started smoking.

Good luck.

only reason i don't want to do it myself is because i'd rather not rely on myself with the only engine i have for it being that i don't have a ton of money to throw around

just rather have a shop do it right the first time. not a fan of trial and error, ya know?

im asumming your talking about your 300ex?

seriously, dont spend money not needed,

a honing (if your cylinder is in spec) new rings, and valve seals, and maybe a clean up of the valves and it should be good

if not i have a head for sale!!!

Spend the money but be careful who you give it to if your gonna have someone do it.
