i do a lot of fast trail riding with some decent size jumps. i only weigh like 120 so wut shocks would suit me best? Also i just bought a bunch of new parts and dont start work again till next week so money is tight until then. what are u looking for a price on the shocks. feel free to pm me if u wish

the stock 400ex shocks would work ok, especially since your light. i geuss $50 plus $10 shipping

the 450r conversion would be best if you want to adjust the ride and feel of the shocks. they are even set up for your weight because thats what codys weighs. id like to get $500 for them

ya im not sure i want to pay $500 for 450 shocks when im just a rec. rider but ill think about the 400 shocks but for now i have no money haha:D

this is off topic and im not trying to jack it. but you might want to adjust your camber....

most the time you don't need brake lines, u can just reroute them.
but don't take my word on that.

haha ya i know i just put it together and havnt got that far i still need bushings for the arms. but i was just tryin to give an idea of brake line length and that was the only pic i had i might try to get a better pic of the brake lines just as a refrenece but ya they just needed to be stretched and then i zip tied them in the middle so they werent floppin all over the place. but i moved the arms and stuff in all kinds of extreme posisions to make sure. so i'd save ur money and only get the extendeds if ur stockers end up goin bad and need new ones anyway. thats just me tho.

ya i was supised too i was expecting to have to spend 80 bucks on brake lines if not more. but yep i've rode it around the drive way but havnt gotten it out on the trails yet but i dont see why it wouldnt work.

is there any slack in the line?

sparks427
07-29-2008, 06:55 PM
there is plenty of slack cuz when the spindle turns it doesnt pull on them and when the a-arm pivots it doesnt pull on them either so you should be just fine w/ the stockers.

well thats good to know im glad u mentioned that i will save money now haha. do u know how wide it is with those arms?

sparks427

+2 400ex is like the same as +3.25" giving you a total of 6.5". it deffinetly makes a benificial diffrence i'm glad i did the swap. i deff. do it again. and no problem for the help, if i can i will.

graham300ex

where did u get your arms

sparks427
07-29-2008, 08:25 PM
i got them off one of the guys on here who was parting out his 400. thats ur best bet probly or u'll be buyin brand new ones which is alright but used ones are just as good. you can find them on here for about half the price of new ones if you look hard enough and wait a little bit usualy doesnt take to long and sombody starts partin somthin out or decides to clean out their garage.

haha ok thanks ya theres some new 400ex +2 +1 a arms on ebay for $250 and has everything but i wouldnt mind finding some cheaper ones so i can get some good shocks too. i might just go with stock 400ex shocks

sparks427
07-29-2008, 08:34 PM
i think i paid about that much for mine, and you'll need the 400ex shocks w/ a relocator bracket cuz the 400 shocks are too long.

graham300ex
07-29-2008, 08:42 PM
ya im a good fabricator and can make a strong relocator so that will save some money too haha

sparks427
07-29-2008, 08:43 PM
haha right on i dont have alot of the tools for all that so i just bought one. i'm gonna see what i can do about a braket for the 450 linkage and a 450 swinger.

graham300ex
07-30-2008, 07:04 AM
ya i wondered about that conversion and what exactly has to be done

sparks427
07-30-2008, 04:26 PM
really the only thing i had to do was get the shock mount. i got spindles w/ my a-arms so i kinda lucked out there, ya dont need em but i've been told they help w/ the geometry and stuff so i duno thats up to you. other then that besides the obvious like tie rods then nothin really its almost a direct bolt on other then shocks and you need that bracket for those.

what about adjustments???? I have a set I am getting ready to "bolt" on..

Purchased:
400ex a-arms and tie rods
relo and widening kit

Have stock 300ex everything else.

Will this work? Anything I should know about with the wheels, hubs, etc?

sparks427

you'll need the a-arms, tierods, shock relocator, and shocks if you have that then you have everything you should need. the tops of ur tires might be tipped in a bit but some a-arms have adjustments where you can correct this like the ones i have but i dont know if stockers are adj so but you'll just have to put em on and see. but it sounds like you get everything you need so you should be set.
