I have no prior experience with any 250r and was wondering what is an average top speed of a completely stock one?

Top speed?

28 mph. Yes, twenty-eight miles per hour. Barely faster than a 6-year-olds powerwheels if you ask me....;)

are you kidding me 28 mph

07-24-2008, 10:35 AM
the 31 srwhp will make the 250r do 71mph

TRXRIDER4567

if the tri-z had 68, then its an absolute shame they never made a 250 quadracer to compete with the others back in the 80s.

take that zilla motor and put it in a 250R and you have yourself nice lil scooter ;)

Because you're too lazy to do a search, that's why. A 15 sec. search and you would of had your answer, but no, let's take the same amount of time and start another thread about it. And then wait for replies. I just don't get it.....

dont think the tri z is right is it ?

I don't think so either... I started on trikes back then, my first being an ATC250R and I don't remember the tri-z being anything to shout home about. They had a longer wheel base, and were supposedly "safer" but I don't remember hearing they were hp monsters.

Where did you find the info? I'll do a little research too, I've got some old magazines from the 80's. If that is the case, a stretched blaster with better suspension, brakes and a host of other things would have been killer with a tri-z 250 motor.

BTW, You need to add the Tiger 500 3-wlr to the list... that thing was ridiculous...

I highly doubt the Tri-Z had peak hp in the 60s. My dad raced 250r and tri-z trikes in the 80's. He got sponsered by a local yamaha shop and was given a tri-z. He told me the 250r was a bit quicker of a bike. He said he still kicked some ***** with the tri-z though. He also did say that someone came to the races once with a Tiger. He said nothing could touch that bike, he was amazed by that thing.

know wonder no one could touch the tiger it only weighed 280 lbs and had 45 hp stock
yes i also doubt a tri-z had 60 + hp peak i was thinkin more like 28 or somethin

I have personally ridden a tri z and it was a fast bike but i think hp in the mid 30 range would be about right. The 86 was(still is) more desirable than the 85 because of its 6sp tranny.;)

tiger made several models, 80, 125, 200, 250 and 500. They tended to race the 200 in the 250 events, so you probably didn't even race against a true 250. I have an article with the 500, dirtwheels said it could go 90+, and its geared kinda low, so 1-2 teeth on the front sprocket is easily pulled. Each tiger atc was a custom order, there wasn't a standard model, everyone was built to the customers spec.
