Honda's hrc cam

I was wondering if someone could tell me, is the hrc cam that honda has, is more like a stage 1 cam, or more like a stage 2 cam? Im guessing it's a stage 1 cam, but not sure. Thanks for the info.....

Ya it'll feel similar to a HC1.

The 06+ HRC cam is the same as the 05 CRF cam.
Low - Mid range cam.

Thanks for the reply. For mx racing it would probably be recommended for a stage 2 cam at least, right?

All depends how you swift and what RPM range u keep ur bike in for MX.
The HC stage2 is a very popular MX cam. Though I prefer a cam with a lil more bottom-mid range then the HC2 for MX. I'm a short shifter and normally don't rev the piss out of my bike. All depends where u want your power.
The 02-03 CRF cam is my favorite.

I used to have an 05 HRC cam (all top end) and it was amazing for sandpits/dunes/dirt roads, but really lacked mid range for the tracks.

I am getting the hrc kit in my new leftover 07 450er when I pick it up next week. is it good for xc and trails??

ive always heard they leaned towards a stage 2... my 06 atleast...

d3trix is right about the stage 2 being a hi up cam, it pulls like you have a tooth bigger sprocket, and dont have a ton of bottom and mid.

treadway47025 thats what I have now. It is a great combo. Get it & enjoy. I put the HRC kit in our 04 also. We don't use our Curtis pipe anymore. Its to loud for where we ride.

You said you dont use the CURTIS pipe anymore.. were you referring to the curtis Sparks pipe. That's what I'm going to get. Is it extremely loud. Would you still have it if you could? Good power gains? and did it have the deep sound?

I still have the pipe. It will crack your ears & anyone else's around you if you hit the gas. Its has good power gains etc.. I ride the trails & MX at BREEZEWOOD. I have an 04 w/ a rebuilt motor & when they rebuilt it I had them put in the HRC kit. I also have an 07 w/ the HRC kit as well. If you wanta ride all over I'd go w/ the hrc deal vs. the CS pipe. Dollar for dollar its probably the same & you get more versitility. Good luck FYI the 07 is faster than the 04:devil:

not questioning your knowledge or anything, just curious, so they changed the HRC cam for the 06+?

my cousin just put one in his bike (an 07) and i think that thing is almost all mid-top end power. i couldnt even really feel it before 3rd gear. i mean is there diff kind of cams they offer with the kit?
