Hey.

My dad used my PS2 for a while at his shop to watch movies.

I think it sucked in shop grime from the mist off the machines and made the lens dirty.

I used a lens cleaner cd. It still said disc read error, but i heard it spinning so I tried a game.

It's very finicky and only reads brand new games.

Is there a way to fix this? and if not, how hard is it to get to the lens inside to clean it by hand?

thanks!

i work on these things all the time at work...the lens cleaner discs are the worst thing you can do for a pickup, you can try and clean it, but chances are its FUBAR and needs a new pickup.

I dont want a new system.

1) it'll just make me want to sit on my ***** all day.
2) I cant afford one

I perfectly happy with my PS2.

I looked it up, and adjusted the gear in the disc drive like it said.

Now it loads the game perfectly, until i go to do a race or something and it freezes on the loading screen.

wtf?

aright ive had this problem plenty of times before...heres what you do.....unplug everything turn the ps2 upside down...you will see little squares...remove the squares and under them are screws...remove the screws and make sure you remember where the long ones go because they need to go back in the same holes....once you have the bottom off you will see the cd drive...there are 4 tiny screws that you have to unscrew....once you have that open take a Q tip and dip it in rubbing alcohol and gently clean the lense with it...reassemble and your ready to go :D

go to www.psr1.com they can take out scratches. they fix all kinds of game consols and stuff. and it's only like 8 dollars.

1 877 777 3491 call that number. that's their number. the scatch removal is not on their site yet. it's being redone.

and btw, that doesnt always work. usually it's the actual game disc that has scratches/gouges(sp).

They are a breeze to clean, go to youtube and type in something like "clean a ps2 lense" and you will get videos that will make it easy.
