I am tired of shovels and buckets. I'm trying to build a good size track and I'm going to rent some equipment. I'm looking at a bobcat front loader and an excavator. Which would be more suitable for the job? Has anyone else used one while building there own tracks? THe loader doesnt look like it was made to dig but to transfer dirt. I need something to do both. Thanks.

a bobcat with tracks would be best I think....that way you can pack the jumps and everything

bobctas seem to be pretty handy. theres a buch of different attatchments for them so you can do almost anything with them.

i built a most of my tracks with a kubota 5030 cab tractor. but i built my last one with a bobcat T300. if your renting something go with a bobcat with tracks, the wheeled ones are really bouncy and cant even compared to a tracked one. a bobcat t180 would be prolly be the best/cheapest way to build a track

I used a Bobcat S250 with an 80-inch wide smooth scoop bucket to overhaul my track this spring. This machine was awesome and affordable, but if you can get one with tracks that's the way to go for sure.

ive used our kubota bx2200 its ok for making smaller jumps it would be better if it had a bigger bucket. the track we made at camp i used my bosses 680 case backhoe but it also depends on how big the track is going to be and how big you want the jumps a bob cat would work fine in most cases

any skid steer with tracks, i used a bobcat with wheels and that thing just spun in the dirt and created more ruts and holes just tryin to move dirt around.
