can you pull a 400ex engine out of the frame without spliting it in half?

yeap, just did it 3 times within the past month switching out 400ex motors on my brothers quad

yeah. just take out all the mount bolts and swing arm bolt. you may have to tip it or twist it. it does take a little effort.

only time you split the cases is when you go internal to do work on parts like, tranny, crank,rod.. etc

ok so do i bassicly just tip it down towards the ground and pull out to the side or do i pull up and spin it then pull the bottom out and make the top follow or what?

its straightforward and fairly simple once you get the mounts out and hopefully your swingarm bolt comes out easy. i belive it comes out of the right side the easiest. im not sure. but you dont have to take the motor apart to get it out, just lean it to a side and work with it, its not that hard at all. you can actually mount it from the top and grab each side and twist. if not have a buddy help you, shouldnt take more than 2 or 3 minutes to figure it out .

ha thanks guys i figured it out it was really quite simple i just picked up the back and the front and slid it out the right side ha and im only 15 so im not that strong and reolized that thing is heavy and ran to the nearest chair with it ha. but yea so now im wondering.. a 460 stroker? or a 440 or a trx 520r engine ha my dad said a stroker but i said screw that i dont got money for airplane fuel and i wanted a 440 and some other crap i tihnk i am probly goign with the 440 there is a but with a trx 450r engine and its done out to a 520 but he doesnt really want to sell it unless he gets a good price for it so i am weighting on dads call for that one i am pretty sure he wont though. but anyway i was wondering if one of you gize can find me hd studs on ebay i cant find them and the year of crf450r bike came chain i would put in if i got a 440. thanks hear is some pictures with the painted swing arm and missing engine ha.

you can build a really strong 416, or 426 aswell. bigger isnt always better.

although, my 440 rips:D

i will i just thew it back together to amke sure i wont loose anything wile i start ripping my engine apart once my engine is good to go or once i get bored weighting for parts i will do my linkage black and my back shock i will do to and also i will redoo my sub-frame i am most likely going t oby that blue hmf pipe of ebay to its a almost identical blue i just dont no how to do my shock think i should do it like my fronts?
