i recently discovered that my (bought used) 04 is leaking oil from the part of the motor where that rod comes out that goes that the shift lever connects to, has this happened to anyone yet, and if so is there (im praying) an easy fix? i see a little seal in that hole could that be the problem and is it easy to change?
thanks for any help/tips at all....
The hardest part is picking out the old seal. After you pick it out then pop a new one in. It not hard at all.

thank you! i just wasnt sure if a outer seal would be it or if it would be some kind of internal problem, and also i looked at babbits and couldnt find a seal so if i went to a dealer what exactly would that seal/place it goes be called? thanks again
It is a shift shaft seal. Go to www.mrcycles.com and you can look up the Honda parts # yourself

first check your sprocket seal too mine was leaking down onto the shifter seal so u could think its the shifter seal so look at them both

This happens a lot to me when I replace cases on KLX110 motors (pegs bolt into the cases and when ridden hard they pull the bolts out of the cases, so cases must be replaced, worst design ever) and I get a cheap kid who doesn't want to spend an extra $5 on the shift shaft seal and I try picking the old one out of th busted cases for re-use. I refuse to NOT buy that now when replacing cases.

haha well i went to my local honda shop to order the seal (you cant buy anything you gotta order it, no matter how simple of a part you need) but theyre closed for the week  so i guess ill just call around the others and see what i can find, but when i eventually do find one whats the best way to get the old one out of there (i havent messed with it yet just looked at it) like a flat screwdriver?

I highly doubt you'd find that part at a dealer anyways, chances are you'll have to order it no matter where you go. It's not a matter of how "simple" a part it is, it's how many the dealer thinks they'll sell. Like they probably have brake pads because people use the heck out of them, but they wont have specialty items in stock like a specific frame bolt.
