piston questions (video)

ok, so i am doing the top end, and took the head off last nite. take a look at this video.

1. how bad is that side-to-side play? what is normal?
2. does that piston look stock?

kcy is stock, is taht at tdc? i jsut closed out and wasnt paying attention, if its at tdc and it does that a tiny bit then its ok, but if its doing that at bottom dead center or midrange, then the rings are junk, looks like your blowing a ton of oil? but yeah its deffinetly time for new rings.

it is towards the bottom of the cylinder. the guy i bought it from told me it had a bore kit in it already..... i am not one bit surprised to find out its not, as i've discovered many other things on this machine that he said one thing about and are turning out to not be the case.

anyways, it burns a quart of oil in a couple hours, plug is always black, smokes like a chimney, and has no power.... which is why it's getting torn down. 426 kit is in the mail.

oh ew!! how did it run! lol no thats a stock piston, sorry to say. the guy i bought mine from couldnt tell me jack, he was about 6'7 and said he bought it and found out he didnt know how to fix it, which had a grendaded bearing housing

lol maybe its bored to a 406cc but has the stock piston

haha, ya know..... i actually wondered that myself!

have a micrometer? or something like that? i would measure it

hey mine does that and it isnt at tdc but its not as bad if i stick my finger in one of those groves i can move it abit back and forth does that mean my rings are junk? i cant see a gap or anything but then again i wasnt really lookin for one i thought they were done anyway but wasnt to sure. and yea it burns oil ha.

meh, there really shouldnt be any play besides at tdc and a tiny bit at bdc. if its in the middle like his its time for new rings. expecially if it burns oil. rings are cheap enough and fun to do

ha yea i thought it was rings my dad said there has to be a little play though because of when it expands but i dont no... i bout a 440 kit so im not to worried
