wont shift

practice day before the race i got off the track and downshifted to 1st and now the bike wont come out of it. the shifter moves but where its supposed to "click" the gear it wont move past that point

im thinking its the shift shaft but does anyone else have some ideas?

You have probably been a victim of the infamous shift pin breakage... Pull the clutch cover and have look.. No big deal if it is broken 80 bucks in parts and your good to go.
