View Full Version : 400ex PRM Frame Skid Mounting Help?

I have a 2001 400ex that came with the full PRM skids. The one for the main frame was not installed when I bought the quad. It came with 3 brackets used to install it. I have messed with it for hours trying to figure out how this thing mounts. I also contacted PRM for install instructions with no response.
Does anyone out there have pics or info to pass on that shows or explains how this is supposed to mount? I am coming to the conclusion that this is not a skid for a 400ex. But I am hoping someone has some answers.

Thanks in advance everyone!

My assumption is that I am missing some things. Here it is though.
I have the skid plate and 3 brackets. There are two additional holes drilled in the skid as well. Any ideas? 2001 400ex, PRM Skids.

you are missing a few brackets...i think 3 to be exact...

the middle one goes at the very front hole...there should be a bracket similar to the middle one for the second hole from the front, you are missing this one...

the third set of holes has one bracket for both holes that crosses the inside of the frame. you are missing this one

the 4th set of holes should line up where the stock skid mount to the frame, that will just take some bolts

the bracket on the left should mount to the sides of the frame just behind where your pegs mount...this is the third bracket you are missing.

i don't have a clue as to what the bracket on the right is for

Any ideas on where I could buy the missing brackets? I have emailed PRM directly a couple times with no response.

I ended up calling a dealer to get their phone #.

541-665-3805 if anyone ever needs it.

Then are sending me a whole new set of mounts. $24 shipped.
Thanks for the help.

What holes have nothing? Are your brackets similar to mine?
Could you please post or send me a couple pictures of the brackets mounted? Whenever you have a chance. It would be a huge help!

read my post...it tells you what holes have nothing and what they are used for...

I did read your post, and appreciate the info. Foxhonda said that there are a couple holes with nothing. Your post has somthing in all the holes. This is why I asked for a picture. I should have the new brackets from PRM in a couple days. I will see what they send me and let you know what I come up with. Thanks again guys.

i'll make it a little more clear....

the holes he has with nothing are the ones that utilize the stock skid plating mounting holes. when the prm skid comes new, it has longer bolts so that you can bolt right into the frame as well as use all the mounts they provided.
