02 400ex?

I am new to the 400ex, just got it saturday. It has the following mods in my sig. I was just wondering if I should get the higher compression piston and get my head ported and polished or what I need to do. It has the doug echnier edlebrock carb says it is race only. The guy i bought it from had all the stuff done now I wanna do it right. If anyone has input on what I need to do or place that do motor work let me know.

port the head and switch to a stage 2 cam.

You can go higher compression, but then you need to run race gas. Even then, the highest I would ever go is 12.5:1

you can run pump gas with 11:1 comp....which is higher than stock, but i would recomend 93 octane.

he already has 11:1 he was saying if he should go higher, then he has to run race

does it have an after market crank or connecting rod? i heard the stock conecting rod cant really take the power of the 440 and 12.5:1 compression with out blowing it. thats why i didnt, i didnt feel like doing the bottom end over, if i did, i would have gone balls to the walls

It has stock bottom end in it. So you think I should keep it like it is till I decide to make the bottom end a project.
