I just hooked up a SPAL fan last weekend. Since the fan is going on the oil cooler, i figured i'd keep everything up front. I tied into the ingintion switch power lead. From there I went to my toggle on the left side front panel under the headlights (2002). From the toggle to the fan itself. Then I just tied the negative fan lead to any negative lead, or the frame. Tell me REPOMAN, or anyone else if this is not a good idea. It seemed to work fine the one time I toof it out.

i ended up running a line to the black wire on the voltage regulator, that way it toggled the fan on and off with the key, i first tied it into the ignition and it alway had power, i used a test light on them and only the red line had power with the key on and off, the other two seemed to be grounds. but running the line too the regulatior i got full power vs some of the other wires. i used 2 80mm fans hopefully the zipties dont melt!:eek2:

Hopefully your don't have the zip ties touching the oil cooler....they may not melt the first time, but I bet they get brittle and break within a few rides, depending on how hard you ride.
Just a thought....

4 inch SPAL fan (puller), with a stock oil cooler. I have another stock oil cooler that I am going to try and use in tandem , too. I got mine used from a member on this site. Check the used parts forum, or search SPAL on the web.

Those little suckers really pull some air, too! They sound like my chevy 1 ton van's radiator fan in the morning before it warms up.
Good luck!
