what part of too long do you not understand?

40r hood are about 4" longer than 400ex hoods...

there are essentially 4 mounting spots, one on each side at the front. you will need to make bolt holes in your fenders to bolt them to your front plastics. then at the rear(up near the stem), there are pegs that go through stock holes. these holes are oval shaped and already there for the stock hood on a 450r and the 05-07 400ex. if you use the stock holes for the rear, then the front of the hood, where it would need to bolt to you plastics, would stick out about 3.5 to 4" past the very front of the fenders. if you use the front then put the hood on, there is no place to make your holes for the rear to mount, and it will run into your stem...

there for it is too long...

Why do you have to be an *** about it, jeez I am sure he was just curious what you were talking about to see if it might work with a ittle fab work.

exactly. but i now kno that it wont work.

i was joking...if i had been serious i would have just left it at that...

why should i have to take **** for trying to help out...

and if that is what he wanted to know, would it not have been wise to say "would it be possible to make it work?"

or if i had thought it could be fabbed, i would have said so...

but since ya wanna be all sensitive about it...

long means long...that would mean front to back...if i had said it was too wide, that would have meant from side to side...pretty hard concepts to figure out...

people need to use a little common sense every now and again

I don't see anything wrong with this post /\/\/\, very technical and to the point. Also correct.

For what its worth, I took the stock hood off of my 04 450r and put it on my 07 400ex. Fit just fine, cant tell a difference in either hood.

The 05-07 400ex has the exact part number for the stock hood and also the headlight of the 04/05 450r.

The front plastics nose piece that goes under the headlight is totally different though to match the different front plastics. The 450r mair hoods are much longer I have seen it myself by trying to switch them out. If you were going to mount them they would stick way out past the 400's front plastic and look horrible.

thats why j450rking put a qt scooped 450r hood on his and just had to tri the sides a litle bit. it fits fine.
