anyone have a pontiac g8 gt? im looking into getting one and want to know some of the pros/cons of getting one. and i know they have the 6.0 motor so does that mean it takes premium fuel? its not really a big deal im just wondering. post some pics if you or you know someone that has one!

the 6 liter is the displacement and does not determine whether or not it has to run premium. The compression ratios however do determine the fuel requirments.

they look pretty cool. Im guessing youd have to run premium too

97blaster200

went onto the g8 forums and they said the owners manual suggests 87 octane(regular). but a dealer told the guy to run 93 octane(premium) to get the best performance out of it.

The G8 GT is the same LS2 motor as the GTO so chances are that its going to require 93, the G* gt is basicly a 4 door heavy GTO.

yeah I seriously doubt that your dads truck...your truck....whos ever it is could take a G8,....obviously comin from someone who has driven one before they are quick, and I love diesels and know with a few modifications can run as fast as alot of sport cars....but being that I worked for a car dealership and driven all kinds of vehicles Im confident sayin that to say a f350 could handle a car with a 6.0 v8 is riddiculas....but Im not saying its not possible but since you said its a "farm" truck I doubt it could.... thats why I love how everytime any one ask for a genuine question on here about a car it turns into a my car is faster battle.......

our truck is chiped and has an air intake making 400+ hp, my frined has a camaro wit the v8 and it will give it a good race and at the end take it.

Compression ratio dosn't have all to do with it..

My Srt4 is boosted but low compression and I have to run premium.

this really escalated quickly.... from Anchorman...... But yeah not trying to bash you, more props to ya diesels are a blast, just saying this isnt the place to start bragin about how fast it is....but yeah start another thread and we can all start a ring match of who has the fastest truck haha

actually when you turbo or supercahrge anymore you are raising the compression ratio in your motor....this is why you make a 8:1 compression motor and boost it because the comp ratio is soo much higher with force induction

and also saying a 7000lb truck will take a g8 is hilarious dont get me wrong diesels are quick and put a lot of power down but a 350hp car vs a 500hp truck will get smoked in the top end

power to wieght ratio has a lot to do with winning races

well u can find on youtube of trucks beating cars at drag strips

dont get me wrong there are some 1200hp diesel monsters out there that will smoke cars but they are many that will not

Acually, a diesel truck with a good intake, exhaust, and chip can run in the 14's. So if your a bad driver in that car, ya better watch out... Its REALLY easy to lose 1 second if your not a good driver.

lol this is funny you have a 04 right 6.0 good motor quite a few problems and its hard to believe your getting 400 plus HP my buddy has a built Banks 6.0 Turbo exhuast programmer and intake and is only making around 430 i work for a diesel shop called SJD we build some wicked trucks for track pulling and many other things but i have yet to see one take a GTO,G8.Trans Am isnt gonna happen at least not from a ford.....most of these guys have the motors built in there cars here in Mo

and farm diesel have fun getting caught that has red die in it stains your lines takes some where around 12 normal fuel gallons to get 1 gallon of died diesel out of your lines, motor, and tank that a fine in a half trust me have had it....!

i could see 400 hp acievable, it its the 6.4 or 6.0 a chip, exhaust and intake will make about 400+. my brother has a 7.3, and it makes 200 hp stock, it has a 100+hp chip(and isnt even the best and most powerfull) and with bigger injectors, intake, and exhaust i can see it being around 400,

quads14589

its weird how the 6.0 makes more hp stock than the 7.3 stock

Displacement means nothing.

There are plenty of six cylinders making more horsepower than v8's.

pro-rider46

yep, dicplacement doesnt always mean more hp. plus im sure ford did something with the turbos to make more hp than the 7.3s

I have a 2000 model 7.3 with a superchip(it's crap, i know, but its all i could afford at the moment), exhaust, intake, inner cooler, gt38r turbo, zoodad mod, and i would be lucky to be seein 340-360hp. You can get a lot of power out of a 6.0, but I seriously doubt you're pushing 400+hp with a chip and intake, sorry bud.
