What's so bad about J-arms?

Other than eating bushings like crazy, they're actually a nice setup. If anything, they handle better (less mass makes the suspension action better) but the average rider won't feel a damn difference.

Plus, they j-arm frames are supposedly 14lbs lighter than the a-arm frame model.

I hate how people say that they're weak and break a lot. It's a really beefy upper arm. They raced the damn thing in the baja in 1986 and it never broke:rolleyes:

I would rather have a-arms so I can do the yfz conversion, but for stock id rather have j-arms with the newer shocks.

Ok so your saying youd rather have a bike that eats bushings up , and has been proven to nbe un reliable rather than newer technology? or are you saying this to be a post whore again>?

and i dont see 14 lbs maybe 5 at the most... 14 lbs is like 2 gallons of water..

I was exagerating. Yes, they do wear away bushings quicker, but will still last a good riding season.

How are the j-arm frames proven unreliable? They completed the baja with them, and they are actually pretty strong. Other than that and the front shocks, they were virtually unchanged from 87-06. Well, the plugs on the electrical system changed in 95 i believe.

14lbs is what i heard, don't take that for granted because I myself dont exactly know.

you just said yourself they only last a riding season.. thats NOT reliable.

if it was a good design more people would use it and it would have never been changed.

With how cheap bushings are who really gives a flying f--k. They're easy enough to change.

They changed to a-arms because of the bushing problem. A-arms will last much longer as far as bushings go.

Like I said, nobody will ever feel the difference in the two.

When i get all the mechanical done and over with, im looking around for a set of +2 +1 j-arms or d-arms

I figure if the J-arm design was a good design....Yamaha would not have changed it after a couple or few years. Obviously the designers of the ATV thought that a-arms were worth spending however much money it cost to change the frame set up on a quad that was only a few years old.

And another thing, if it was that good of a design, or at least a decent ALTERNATIVE to a-arms, you think you'd see more quads with the design...

Well hey buddy you must live under a rock look a the quad scene in Europe?.......J arms buddy J arms!! Old design huh? Then why do they trust a 21 year old design then if their unreliable?
