Has anyone seen something like that? I know the Quadzilla had a 500 cc 2 stroke in it, but has anyone done anything with a Honda frame? It seems like it would be such a blast.

I know a guy who has built a CR500ex ...it's a monster. Nothing can keep up with him that he has come across.

I'm building a 493 stroker that might give him a run though...:devil

the problem about the cr500 and cr250 motor is they are not counterbalanced which causes a lot of vibration in the frame and will eventually crack it. like then lt500 that suzuki use to make. i am sure if you got it blue printed and balnced this would help out big time

True that...

He put the cr500 in a Houser frame and he still gets alot of torque steer...

Is that going to be a FDO 493?

torque steer???????

that is typically associated with high HP front wheel drive cars without a limited slip diff that allows one tire too pull harder than the other causeing the car to steer one way or the other, whatever tire gets more traction.

HOW are you relating this to a solid axle quad??????:huh

Yes, Mike is hookin me up with his FDO 493 with the new piston...:D

Well I don't know the GD technical word for it, but the motor puts so much torque on the frame, that it makes one side of the quad want to dig in and this kinda pulls you in that direction. Ride one and you'll know what I mean:rolleyes:

Chris, that is one sweet bike.....wanna sell??

now i see what your saying. mustangs do that at the strip. its twists the frame because the motor twists the body by pushing ht left front down and the rear pushes the right wheel down. thats why you need to look at the a-pillars on the fox bodies. they tend to crack there in high hp applications

wasnt trying to flame just confused. my bad

The guys out at Fullbore have a CR-500 put into an atc250R, and it's converted to a 2 wheel bike, with one fat paddle in the back and a razorback up front. I guess some company used to manufacture these and called them "Missiles".

A buddy of mine used to have a 250R with the CR500motor in it. He had it balanced and used rubber engine mounts. It was still a little bit of a "vibrator", but it was fast as he!!. He rides a craptor now, and wishes that he had his 500R back.

i have a friend who had a KX500 tecate. he got the crank balanced and he said that took out almost all of the vibration

he also had a mojave with a tecate 250 motor from a three wheeler in it. not sure if it was counterbalanced or not.

oh and on the subject of non counterbalanced motors in trikes, you don't really have to worry about vibration in a trike like you do in a quad.

That is not what this guy said...about his CR500ATC in 4wheelatvaction for Jan '03...."Tony: It's been fine, but i cant ride it for long because the power and vibration wear me out. .........."

My friend had a atc250r with a cr500 motor and that thing was over 100MPH easy and it didn't take it long to get there. It had an 8 inch extended swing arm and he couldn't keep the front in down in fifth gear. All I could say when I drove it was that it was scary fast.

One of the total nutjobs we ride with has got a harley engine in and lt250r chassis. It vibrates and weighs too much but when we hit the roads on the way to the trails he can rock us. The only problem with that is you cat really ride it on any trails. Its too heavy.

I dont really think a 493 stroker would come anywhere close to 500cc of 2 stroke power!! Man I think that CR500 may have to be my next project!!!

Mac Racing here in Oregon solves the vibration problem. They have a kit where its a CR500 jug mated to a 250r bottom end, I think its a 10mm stroker or something nuts. $3000 gets you the whole package.
Another swap that is insane is a Rotax 440 topend mated to a R bottom end. There are a couple out there and they are pushing well over 100hp (powervalved too!). I was going to do a Rotax swap in my R until I found out how much they cost. haha.
