I have an 04 450R. I went out for a ride today and it is actin weird. It will run for about 45 seconds then die. Give it about a minute it will start back upthen it will run for a little bit and die again. what is causing this????? it ran fine when i parked it yesterday

Possible fuel problem ? it's fuel or electrical related i would think.

yeah i was thinkin the same it has to be one of those 2. the motor sounds fine while its running. I was just wondering if anyone else had ever had this go on?

Pull the line off of the carb coming from the tank and make sure it's flowing gas and the petcock is not plugged up for some reason.

Try starting it with the gas cap off and see what happens. Maybe the vent tube is plugged up.

i just went out and tried that and same thig, it ran to about the end of the yard and quit. the tank it draining gas fine that was the first thing i checked. I i put a new plug in it for to see if it was a possibility....Keep them coming ill try anything guys

is there possibly a circuit that maybe went bad, like a stuck throttle sensor or something that shuts the quad down is something might have happened. i dont think that the hondas have that, but idk for sure.

I know you said you rode it yesterday but what about a sticky float or some crud in the carb

Turn off the gas and drain the bowl with the big nut in the bottom, look for some dirt in there...

mine did the same the air fuel mixture vibrated and the main jet vibrated out check those too

mine did the same thing to i just got it warmed up and then took out on the highway and ran it through the gears a few times and it came out of it

Sounds like the needle and seat are stuck and not allowing enough fuel to enter the bowl.

pull the float bowl and see what is obstructing the main jet.....see this every week!

Funny you said that Pap, i have had this fixed for a few days just kep forgettin to update the post........There was a small stringy strand of metal curled into the main jet. I dont have the slightest clue where this come from but it has ran like a charm since i pulled it out

ive seen so many small seeds from plants etc, that get sucked up the vent hoses that its the first thing we check here:p
