banshee kickstart / transmission

i was climbing up a hill i had it in 2nd gear then i put it in 1st then the banshee died and rolled back i dident push in the clutch and i heard a pop then i tried to start it and the kick start but it wasent grabbing nothing so i push started it and it started right up but it will only go into 1st thats it so i took the trans cover off and there is a broken gear i dont know if i should take the motor appart or just see if i can replace the gear any ideas thanks

one thing for sure if you broke a gear you have metal fragments in the case. if it was me i would pull the case apart and get it all cleaned out, that way you know for sure nothing else is damaged and nothing else will get damaged.
