The foam in the link that you posted will be the 88/89 foam height. The 86/87 foam is a little thinner. You could buy that foam and attempt to shave it down to the 86/87 height.

last I bought a seat you coudl still get hte 86/87 style new from honda but the foam has been superceeded to the 88/89 depth. You can even get the 86 style cover still. The Ceet foam I bought for a customer once was noticeably stiffer than stock. That's just the one I bought, so I dunno if they're all like that.

aren't all the seat covers just black now?? I know that honda stills sells the atc250r seat covers, but they are in straight black, don't have the lettering or warning on it. I was under the impression that 86/87 and 88/89 seat covers fell into the same thing.

No, not unless something changed recently. I have a new red 86 seat at home with the Honda white lettering on the back. I do think if you order an 87 you get the same seat (86 style). I think you're right about the 88-89 though. I've bought these too. It's black with an updated warning label on the back. The warning label I'm guessing is a policy mandate for the earlier ATV's manufacturered after 87 (at least for Honda).

By the way everyone, a new stock seat is really comfy! The vinyl is stretchy and it lets the seat foam conform to you. I worked with a seat cover company to re-make the 88 Fourtrax cover too. They had a hard time with the warning label though and haven't got it down yet but the Fourtrax looks just like OEM. Its a good option if you want a new OEM style seat.
