New to this & was reading a apost from a guy who runs a honda & thought he was using honda gears, but they were from an ETON. Would a 14/48 be a good ratio?? I have complete stock and is geared very low, I have the 48 rear that came with as an extra. Iam not trying to make this a great quad just something for my little guy to get used to & get some experience.
People like yourselves are very knowledgeable and appreciate any info.

Thanx Ken

I'm not 100% sure but I think stock is 13/50. What's done to the quad and what are you hoping to accomplish with the gearing change like more bottom, top etc.????

stock is 13/50. Some motor work done bigger stroke, head was port & polished I think it has the 115 kit in it. Lot of bottom end. I weigh 240 & i can pull willeys in 2nd gear, without trying. You go thru 1st & 2nd gear in about 20'. If my little guy new how to shift rite you would not need 1st gear off the hole shot. I guess iam seeing if youcan wind out from 2nd to 3rd more. He is still new & really hasnt needed 4th gear except to shift into it, & down shift rite away. What were you running on youngest boys '90 gear wise??

our gearing varied from 13 or 14 front and 46-50 rear but we also had a different transmission, what you need to keep in mind is 1st gear is totally useless in that quad so you should just keep working with him on his 2nd gear starts because you will shift out of 2nd almost immediatly and then carry 3rd which is where he'll spend most of his time. The 14/48 or a 14/50 is what will probally work best for the local tracks around us...just remember seat time.... seat time....seat time and he will have the hang of it before you know it
