that's an 88-89 swingarm on mine. you'll have to use a 250r shock, weld a bracket on your frame so you can attach linkage to it, and use all 250r stuff pretty much.
i think it's about 2 inches longer than the 300ex's.

how well this work when jumping and MXing a bit. I'm curious if this is better than the raptor shock i've heard about.

donn'ttt do the raptor shock. the bladder in the shock goes bad.

a 250r / 450r swingarm and 250r rear shock (linkage is your choice) will work well for any type of riding or jumping, assuming your welding abilities are good enough to make the brackets structurally sound. it will take as much abuse as you can throw at it. however, the 250r rear shock is a bit stiff when used on the 300, so a rebuildon the shock is almost neccessary.

yea the raptor rear shock is a great improvement over stock while it lasts but it will most likely blow the bladder

did any of you that have done this. have to use a spacer on the sprocket too get the front to line out with the rear. just put mine together. and then read something on here that said it was needed

i've never heard of that and mine doesn't appear to have any sort of spacer.

i do know that the 350x 3wheeler swingarm requires a spacer on one side of the pivot mount because it's a little skinny and isn't aligned properly.

ive heard of this on the 250r swing arm conversion before but only in some cases. idk what makes the difference though.

Swing arm swap
witch would be the easiest swing arm swap for a 300ex build a 350x, 400ex, 450r,or 250r.

although I havent done this swap I have been reading alot on it lately.

I'm in the process of swapping the 450R rear end onto our 300ex right now and from what i'vew read, its pretty easy.

I would say the 350X swap would be the easiest, although I dont know why you would do it. You wouldnt gain anything by doing that swap.

The 250R swap would not only require a linkage mount welded to the frame (so does the 450R) but also a spacer made for the rear sprocket to align correctly with the engine.

If you are a competent welder or know someone who is, I would do the 450R swap. It will give you a longer swinger, wider axle, and lighter rearend. You will need a 250R rear shock for this, from what i've read.

Sprocket spacer
Derick, You are right about the spacer on the rear sprocket. I have a 400ex swinger on my 300, and I have a 250r atc shock. I used a rear sproket as a spacer. I cut all of the teeth off in a parana (iron-worker) then ground it smoth on a grinder. The hole grinding the side of the swinger off to shift it to the right (piviot point) is a waste of time and not to mention the rear end would be offset. The hardest part is getting the pro link to work. I had to make a pro link for mine and it took about 2 months to get it right. The rear is now much softer than a 400ex.

sounds to me like the last guy that replied used a 400 swingarm, not a 250r. even though the 2nd guy mentioned it being a 250r, i'm pretty positive i don't have one on mine but i'll take a second look in a bit.

Spacing of the sprocket sounds about right! Because the 250/400 uses the same axle carrier which is wider than the 300's, I know this for a fact since 1 time I tried using a spare billet 250R carrier i had in my 300ex.
