Here's the problem. On my sons lt80. The choke always has to be on to start. Even if the bike is hot. I also noticed it doesn't have alot of top end. It recently was bored out to 51.5 and it has a 90 jet. If anyone can help. I would be greatful. thanx
Please check the compression.
Sometimes there is a carb problem.

i'll check it. but it was just bored.
OK, if there is nothing wrong in the carb, I';d try a bigger pilot jet.
I don't think you should have to but ya never know.

On the lt80 I had, the pilot jet would plug up quite frequently & make it hard to start. Take it out & clean it good, make sure you can see daylight through all the holes in it.

Ok initial problem was quad only started hot or cold with choke on. I took carb off and cleaned found pilot and main both dirty. cleaned rest of carb attempted to start. It sometimes starts but revs up when you cover carb intake. Thats the only way it starts. It has spark it seems to be getting fuel. I'm really at a loss here. Myself and a little boy really need help. I will thank you in advance for any.
Maybe the o-ring has fallen out.
Sounds like it's sucking air.

I'm a little confused. To which o-ring are you reffering?:)
Between the carb and reed block.

so is that between the carb and spacer? or is it between the spacer and reeds? Thanks again for the help.
The o-ring is between the carb and the black thing/spacer (it's called a insulator), there is a groove for the o-ring (I use grease to hold the o-ring in).
