2008 ATVA American Suzuki Summer National - Pleasure Valley - Live race coverage

Round #9 of ATV Motocross nationals headed to high ground as the series slammed into the Pennslyvania mountains. This round is being held at the Pleasure valley MX facility and offers quite a challenging course combined with some good old summer heat and humidity!

25 Pro racers spent the best part of saturday getting their machines dialed in for the track, and boy would they need it! Several sections were turning rough before the Pro riders took the track and by days end the whoops section was claiming victims.

Josh Creamer came really close to dismounting today in the whoops, and he wasn't alone as John Ragon just about ran me over when he went for a tumble

The racers were packed into the facilty pretty good, and parking was at a premium!

The Womens Pro AM race was pretty exciting. Michelle Natalie would win moto 1, however Heather Byrd rallied to take the second moto!

Angela Butler would make a return visit to the series as she has been competing in the WORCS series. Butler finished in the 3rd spot today!

Finally, we have JB Racing's Mitch Reynolds. Mitch is the only Pro-Am racer that runs both Motocross & Extreme Dirt Track, and last weekend he earned himself a Podium finish in 3rd with Harold Goodman taking the Win

Mitch has been plaqued by injuries this year, which set him back a few positions in the standings, but a healthy Mitch Reynolds can easily run with the top 5 in Pro-Am

Well for those of us not being lazy and who get up in the morning, here is a recap of yesterdays qualifying times:p (Trust me, Admin needs much beauty sleep:devil: ;) )


Dustin Wimmer has been on fire this season, as he has been steadfast in his quest for the championship. Consistant good finishes and several wins have him sitting atop the points, and if he can have a solid race at Pleasure Valley, we could see him wrap it all up at Red Bud.

Wimmer clocked the fastes lap time during the timed runs with a best of 01:44.590

Pat Brown was looking pretty solid as he clocked in behind Wimmer by just under a second with a best lap of 01:45.520. Brown came on strong this time last season and may be getting his program dialed in again this season as we close in on the final rounds.

Josh Upperman was railing around the Pleasure Valley course as he was 3rd fastest during timed laps. Upperman stated in a post practice interview that he felt very comfortable with the track as it matched well to his own track and he expects to give it a good run today.

Chad Weinen has had to battle injuries all season it seems, but was looking strong at this round. Qualifying in the 4th position, Chad could be battling for a win this round!

Doug Gusts miraculous save in the whoops section was only the icing on the cake as this legend of a rider placed his machine in the 5th fastest spot of the day. Gust is just a super rider and seeing him maintain his speed over the years is just insane.

Pro Am Unlimted saw a sweep by rising superstar Cody Gibson. Gibsons style is being tossed around as similiar to Jeramiah Jones and I would agree. Gibson runs it on the edge and has been racking up win after win as he puts his Suzuki LTR 450 on the podium week in and week out!

Thomas Brown is another rising star of the series and followed Gibson to a 2-2 finish.

Rain did hit the track late last night, and could possibly affect the event as today gets underway. Live lap by lap coverage will begin shortly before 12 am EST, so be sure to check back to see who will be the victor as round #9 gets cranked up!

I'm actually moving next Saturday! Lived in Central Florida my entire life and headed to Fredricksburg, Va. Crazy Stuff! I needed to stay home and get things together. I'm missing and wishing I was up there though!!!

It used to be that way but it is more complicated than that this year. I am not saying you aren't right in this case just that it is possible to finish 1-2 and win when another rider finishes 2-1.

It might have to do with how many start the moto or finish the moto. :confused:
