1st of all sorry to see you leave quads.
I haven't parted anything out myself but if you want to make more money that is the way to go... at least from what a few people said on here.
What would be the lowest you would go on that Precision? I've wanted one for a while but don't have to money to spend on a new one.

Wish I had the money or I would be buying a whole mess of stuff off of you.

My cousin has a shop (side job) and he gets quads for free from friends, or for very cheep then he parts it out, make makes 3x the quads value!

HiPers: 450ISH
Flexx: 200ISH

Whole quad 3000ISH

Just in those 2 parts you could make about 1/3 of the quads value!

zrpilot it will be a shame to see you go. Your posts are some of the most informative and well thought out.

Parting the quad out will net you the most money. Sell the quad as close to stock and sell the aftermarket parts separately. I'm sure it will be hard to tear it down. I'm pretty emotionally attached to my quad and I'm sure you are too.

If you deside to partout I would be very interested in the Curtis Sparks exhaust.

I resently aquired a 460 stroker motor from these forums and that exhaust would be perfect for it.

I almost found myself in a similar situation with wanting a bike but after bike sitting for a buddy while he is on vacation i remember why i dont have one. I can tell you that a 600rr can get you in trouble in a hurry. I promptly gave it back when he returned home.

You dont loose much money on bikes with gas so high but you cant take them offroad so keep the 400 and get a sport bike. The money you get wont change the payments that much. How far will the 50 bucks a months savings get you in this world. Not far, keep them both.

I couldn't agree more ZR......although I want your parts, I'd rather have you stick around!

Some people are just different, but this is what i would do.

With how much you would get for your quad towards the bike, you could buy a used bike maybe 2-3 years old, and save the amount that the quad would have givin you so you wouldn't have to sell it.

This is not meant to be a classified, yet I have heard many people recommend parting it out, has anyone here done that? And what are your experiences, good or bad?

If I were to sell complete, how much do you think my quad is worth?

IMO i would sell most of the bolt on parts Like bumper if you still have stock bumper nurf bars stearing stabalizer ( I might want that haha) and then sell it with the pipe so you dont have to mess with your jettings again i think this would be the best way to get the most money out of it for the least amount of work around where im from you could sell the quad for 3,400 with it being stock

I would say for the entire thing about $3200 to $3500. You can find stock 05' 450r's or YFZ's for about $3000. I read a reply somewhere that said aftermarket parts don't really increase the value that much.

I'm in the process of selling off my other 400ex. It's basically completey stock, and I'm asking $3200 for it, and have had lots of interest. I would think you could invest maybe $200 on ebay, buy a bunch of stock parts to put back on, sell off all your aftermarket parts, and probably get a total of around $4500 or so at least.
$3200 for the bike (maybe as low as $3000)
$250-300 for the pipe
$300-350 for the suspension,
$100 for bars
$250 for tires and wheels (at least)
$100 for nerfs
$50 for bumper
$150 for steering stabilizer

Some of those might be a little steep, but assuming all those things are in great shape, that's what I might consider paying for them. I've got a friend with a stock 400 that would probably consider a trade for stock stuff for a bunch of that stuff. Plus, you already know the things I want!!
Plus you still have all the engine upgrades if you really wanted to sell all those. I'd probably sell those with it. That's a pain in the butt to rip all that crap out. :D

2002 Honda 400ex

RPM Dominator
LRD Full exhaust
and a few other goodies and some unknown motor work done

Ok, I have decided that parting it out will give me the ability to get the bike I really want. Concours 1400.

I have a lot of "I'll take this or that" PMs and posts during this thread. To be fair to everyone I will post a classified ad with pictures and prices. If interested please keep an eye there for the post.

I have ridden this quad a TOTAL of about 20 times, and you can tell by the pictures that my quad is in GREAT shape. For example it still has the original chain and sprockets even though the quad is over 3 years old.

Having said that, some parts are almost new, hence will be priced a little higher.
