I need to adjust the throttle so it has more play. It only moves the thumb throttle about 1/2 an inch and i want it to move like two inches. It used to have more play but it seems like it magically shortened randomly. I thought the cable was shot so i changed it but it was no different. Adjusting on the thumb throttle housing is not doing anything. Do I need to do something in or on the carb? please help.

Are you talking about how much the lever moves without engaging the carburator? I don't think you're going to be able to get that much play. Even 1/2 inch sounds like a lot to me. I like to have just enough where I can barely feel it moving.

In order to get the most "play" in the lever, you would have to screw the adjuster all the way in at the throttle housing and at the carb. The carb, I believe, has the same type adjuster as the housing.

But, if you have too much play in the cable, then you won't be able to give it full throttle because of how far the lever will go. You're thumb would be in a very akward position.

no its got 1/2 an inch of play before it stops moving anymore and it revs out.

I'm not sure what would cause it to, just all of a sudden, have less lever motion. You haven't changed anything on the carb, or a different throttle housing?

Well on a 450r carb there are two positions for the cable to connect to. I see how everything is working together, but I don't see how you would change the length of the pull of the carb. I'm sure someone will chime in with an answer.

A 90ex thumb lever is a little longer than the 400ex lever. If you put this on there, it will make it feel like a longer, easier pull. This is what I use on my 450...400ex housing with 90ex lever.
