K so i have a 170 main jet in right now. I think this is huge and will probably kill my top end. What do you think. I have an HMf slip on and they recomend that i put this jet in. I was also thinking of putting some holes in my air box lid to lean it out if the top end dies on me. Any opinions? Lets hear em

No doubt thats too big and defiantly requires the airbox lid to be removed. I'm running a 150.

Why would hmf give you that jet if its too big i don't get it.

What will this do to my top end?

With the lid off, it still sounds too rich. It might not be. I would try it. If it's too rich you'll fog up the neighborhood and the bike will stumble. With the lid on, I can almost guaranty it will fog and stumble. If you search HMF I'm sure they expect lid removal with that jet.

If you add the pipe and open the airbox, you will also have to add a few turns on your pilot to richen it up a bit. Once the pilot circuit is set, then worry about your main. Start with the 170 and work backwards. Once the hesitation goes away, your good. I would bet you would land on a 155 or so without the lid.

Oh, to answer your question. It will kill any power your hoping to make with that pipe.

I could be wrong, which is very possible:D I thought the 2003's had a different carb(smaller) than the 2004-current models. That would explain the big a## jet that HMF sent. Try that jet if you own an 2003.

It would be the other way around. A bigger carb...... more airflow would require more fuel......a larger jet. The only change to the carb from '03 to present is the TPS sensor.

this may just be a guess but the jet that came with is most likely a DJ jet,tho a larger number the flow will be smaller when compaired to stock jets,so a 170 will be closer to a 160

I just put the stock in and once the vacuum tube was back on it was fine.
