as long as you use all of the parts from the 450r rear end then yes. everything that has to do with the shock and linkage is different though, so your rear suspension will perform differently.

i might think about trying this if you put a 450 swinger could you use the rear sprocket and just change up your front one my theory is that it would be a lot better because the sprocket and brake rotor is a lot smaller u could get more clearance i think the brakes are probably alot better. if you used a houser 450 swinger and long travel linkage would it take out the airbox or my pipe i know with my rear end stock ive got a nice groove in my pipe from the brake caliper hitting it???????

the sprockets are the same size. Heres what a 450r rear end looks like on a 400.

Is there any advantages?

Ground clearance. Also when I swapped everything over. it was easier to find a 450 swinger than it was a 400.

ahh i see, no need for ground clearance here.

It is also a little longer, 04-05 is longer than a stock 400 and 06 up is 3/4" longer than the 04-05 model 450r swinger.

04-05 swinger is the same length as the 400 swinger. also, better, more consistent braking with the 450 brakes.
