Ok so i sold my KTM 250sxf dirtbike because i was intrested in ATV racing so being a long time fan of honda i picked up a used 2005 trx450r. Im trying to get onto the local MX track soon but i only have 1200$ in hand to use. Only mods on quad when i bought it were Icat spark enchance and a Big gun rev box and hole shots on stock rims about 65% tread . So help me out were do i start?

GT Thunder shock conversion and link $750
New tires $300
Nerfs $150
Kill switch $35
total $1235

A little over budget.

you can start by getting exhaust and jetting it. get some nerfbars. if you dont have any gear. get that first. then worry about mods. if your fairly broke. get your stock shocks revalved. thats the path im going on right now.

I mostly agree with TRX450R_Racer, except I would add handlebars to that list for comfort.

I guess first you would need the safety equipment just to race... so nerfs and a killswitch. Next I would get handlebars as they are some what of a safety item because you will be able to control the quad easier. Next tires, then suspension. I wouldn't even look to power mods until you have all these items completed already. Though you can get a UNI filter for around $30 and take the stock lid off and rejet to get a good gain for relatively low money.

Good call on the bars.

I agree shocks, nerfs, bars and a stabilizer are more important than a pipe.

First make it handle, then make it go fast. Whatever you have left over use towards medical insurance, its cheaper than gear.
